Nunu Fine Art Taipei is pleased to present Collective Measure, Ishmael Randall-Weeks’ first solo exhibition with the gallery. Born in 1976 in Cusco, Peru, Randall-Weeks currently resides and works in Lima, Peru. Cusco, the place where Randall-Weeks grew up, was the capital of the Inca Empire and the center of its commerce, agriculture, and religion. The city’s historic area is now recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Randall-Weeks developed a profound connection to this land during his childhood through play and respect for his vibrant history.
The exhibition reveals the artist’s profound interest in and keen attentioon to architecture and its social and historical contexts. Engaging in a discussion around the characteristics and concepts of space, Randall-Weeks invites us to
reflect on how space and rime are shaped and organized for future generations. What are we building? And for whom are we building?
For the artist’s debut solo exhibition in Asia, Nunu Fine Art Taipei will hold an opening reception on October 5th, 2024, at 4:00 PM. The artist will be present to personally lead a tour and discuss the works and his creative process.
