There’s a Zen story about a person on a horse that’s galloping along a road. As they hurtle by, someone standing by the side of the road yells out, “Where are you going?!” And the person yells back, “I don’t know! Ask the horse!!”In this culture of increasing distraction, do you feel like the person on the horse, trying to keep up with life’s insistent demands, not really sure where you’re going? Where do you choose to place your attention? Are you choosing? Are you unconsciously prioritising what isn’t nourishing or useful to your well being or your deep engagement with life?
Paying attention is an art – it requires intention. Together we will explore the cultivation of easeful, receptive attention. Coupled with discernment, attention can cut through limiting patterns, providing the way to greater ease and wisdom, internally and in relationship with others.
The retreat will include:
- Sitting, walking and lying-down meditation (guided and silent)
- Dharma talk
- Group discussion, Q&A
Bring your own lunch, snacks and beverages.
Bring your own meditation floor pad and cushion/stool if you have one, and shawl. Some meditation floor pads and cushions will be provided.
The retreat will be mostly held in silence; and is suitable for beginning and experienced meditators.
