لقد تعودنا جميعاً أن نستعمل كلمة أو مصطلح "أمة" باستسهال كبير وكأنها أو كأنه أمر واضح بسيط غير خاضع للمساءلة والبحث. لكن عند التفكير السريع بمعنى كلمة أمة نجد أنه أكثر تعقيداً بكثير مما يبدو عليه.ما هي الأمة ؟ ما تعريفها ؟
كيف تنشأ الأمم ؟ هل تكفي اللغة أو الدين لنشوء الأمة ؟

نبذة عن المحاضر :
حاصل على إجازة في علوم الطبيعة – كيمياء حيوية من جامعة تشرين اللاذقية - سوريا. حاصل على درجة الدكتوراه في علوم الطبيعة - الكيمياء الحيوية من أكاديمية العلوم في جيورجيا - تبيليسي. مدرس الكيمياء الحيوية في جامعة دمشق - كلية الطب من العام 1991 وحتى مغادرته إلى كندا - كيبيك في العام 2000. حاصل على إجازة جامعية في علوم التغذية السريرية من كلية الطب - جامعة مونتريال من جامعة مونتريال. يعمل منذ العام 2004 وحتى اليوم في معهد ومشفى الشيخوخة التابع لجامعة مونتريال. رئيس قسم التغذية السريرية في المعهد المذكور. محاضر زائر في كلية الصيدلة والطب و التغذية - جامعة مونتريال. محاضر في العديد من المؤتمرات العلمية. مشارك في العديد من اللقاءات على راديو كندا الدولي و سواها من الوسائل المرئية والمسموعة.
له العديد من المقالات المنشورة على المواقع الالكترونية. نخص بالذكر هنا موقع الحوار المتمدن حيث نجد له صفحة خاصة به.

Nous avons tous pris l’habitude d’utiliser le mot ou le terme « nation » avec une grande facilité, comme s’il s’agissait d’une notion claire, simple, ne nécessitant ni questionnement ni recherche. Cependant, lorsqu’on réfléchit rapidement au sens du mot nation, on se rend compte qu’il est bien plus complexe qu’il n’y paraît.
Qu’est-ce qu’une nation ? Quelle en est la définition ?
Comment les nations naissent-elles ? La langue ou la religion suffisent-elles à faire naître une nation ?

Brève biographie du conférencier :
Titulaire d’une licence en sciences naturelles – biochimie de l’Université de Tichrine à Lattaquié, Syrie. Il a obtenu un doctorat en sciences naturelles – biochimie à l’Académie des sciences de Géorgie, à Tbilissi. Il a enseigné la biochimie à la Faculté de médecine de l’Université de Damas de 1991 jusqu’à son départ pour le Canada (Québec) en 2000. Il détient également un diplôme universitaire en sciences de la nutrition clinique de la Faculté de médecine de l’Université de Montréal.
Depuis 2004 jusqu’à aujourd’hui, il travaille à l’Institut et à l’Hôpital de gériatrie affiliés à l’Université de Montréal, où il est chef du département de nutrition clinique. Il est également conférencier invité à la Faculté de pharmacie, de médecine et de nutrition de l’Université de Montréal, et intervenant dans de nombreux congrès scientifiques.
Il a participé à plusieurs émissions de Radio-Canada International et à d’autres médias audiovisuels. We have all become accustomed to using the word or term “nation” quite casually, as if it were a clear and simple concept, not subject to questioning or research. However, when we take a moment to reflect on the meaning of the word nation, we realize that it is far more complex than it appears.
What is a nation? How is it defined?
How do nations come into being? Are language or religion sufficient to create a nation?

Brief biography of the speaker:
He holds a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences – biochemistry from Tishreen University in Latakia, Syria. He earned a Ph.D. in natural sciences – biochemistry from the Academy of Sciences in Georgia, Tbilisi. He taught biochemistry at the Faculty of Medicine at Damascus University from 1991 until his departure for Canada (Quebec) in 2000. He also holds a university diploma in clinical nutrition sciences from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Montreal.
Since 2004, he has been working at the Institute and Hospital of Geriatrics affiliated with the University of Montreal, where he serves as Head of the Clinical Nutrition Department. He is also a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Medicine, and Nutrition at the University of Montreal, and a speaker at numerous scientific conferences.
