About this Event
The show is inspired by the poem The Stolen Child by William Butler Yeats (1865–1939). Also, The Celtic Twilight book which ventured into the eerie and puckish world of fairies, ghosts, and spirits. “This handful of dreams”, as the author referred to it, first appeared in 1893.
The innovative musical score is grounded in traditional Irish music and folklore but will embrace a world of contemporary composition and sound design. By bringing the unique mix of chants, world beats, and psychedelic electronics for which Jym Daly is renowned, into the same space as the beguiling, fantastical, and gloriously joyful compositions that characterize Thomas Johnston’s work of Ceol Connected. Audiences will be simultaneously comforted and exhilarated as the sonic experience unfolds.
A handful of Dreams is performing as part of the Dancer from the Dance Festival of Irish Choreography and hosted by Dublin City University. A live DCU choir will join us in this years performance.
