Nhà soạn nhạc Michael Brook (Into The Wild, The Perk Of Being A Wallflower…) một lần nữa hoàn thành xuất sắc phần việc của ông, với các bản nhạc nền dựa trên âm hưởng celtic cổ kính.

"Brooklyn": The Sweetest Movie of the 2016 Oscars Season
Based on the 2009 bestselling novel of the same name by Colm Toibin, ranked as one of the "10 best historical novels" by the prestigious review site The Observer, Brooklyn is set in the 1950s. The time when the distance between the two sides of the Ocean could only be connected through the chirping voice of a dial-up phone. Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) is a young girl living in a dreary Irish village, and seems to have no better future than her current job as a grocer. The opportunity came when her sister Rose asked for a job in Brooklyn, America, the promised land for poor Europeans. The little girl decided to leave in pursuit of a happy new life. But will this famous immigrant city fulfill her desire?
Nominated in the three major categories of "Best Picture," "Best Actress," and "Best Adapted Screenplay," director John Crowley's Brooklyn is placed on the table with heavyweights. such as The Big Short, The Martian or Room on the way to the 2016 Oscar red carpet. The film adapts faithfully to the novel of the same name by writer Colm Tóibín and has made a good impression on the audience since the trailer was released. This is really a gentle, touching love story with the incarnation of young star Saoirse Ronan as a muse embracing the "American dream".
All elements from the story, narration, editing and cinematography show the care of director John Crowley. The story begins in the Irish countryside - where Eilis decides to say goodbye to her mother and sister and board the ship that takes her to the "American dream". That decision changed Eilis' life forever when it put her in front of two choices: responsibility for her family and the bright future she always cherished.
The scene where Eilis said goodbye to her mother and sister when the ship had just anchored is easy to recall many classic movies like Titanic or Pearl Harbor. The dances in town - where young girls dress up in search of a mate - will make anyone who has seen Pride & Prejudice feel familiar. In particular, the scene where Eilis walked through the customs door and first set foot on paradise America was treated with Slow-Motion effect, turning the shadow to let light into the frame, bringing a sense of overwhelming feeling. John Crowley's clever visual storytelling technique.
John Crowley has brought a beautiful ending, full of optimism and love. Eilis has continued to inspire, drive, and believe in her other "American dreams". It's been a long, bumpy, tough road. But if we dare to go to the destination, what we get at the end of the road will not be just bread or roses, but both.
Contributing to the classic atmosphere of the film is the elaborately invested costume. Costume designer Odile Dicks-Mireaux was inspired by the charming, charming style of the legendary Grace Kelly to create accents for Saoirse Ronan's image. Vintage floral long dresses with tight crew neck sweaters or pastel cardigans remind of 1950s and 1960s fashion. Eilis then became the epitome of gentle, old-fashioned traditional beauty. Classic, outstanding among the sparkling, prosperous of America.
The bright spot and also the "soul" of the movie Saoirse Ronan. Known from Atonement as the 13-year-old white-robed angel Briony, Saoirse made a strong impression on the audience with her deep blue eyes, hiding unexpected secrets. Next, The Lovely Bones, Hanna and especially The Grand Budapest Hotel in 2014 are steps to confirm Saoirse's maturity in acting. After that long process, Brooklyn became the perfect platform to bring her to the Oscar nomination for "Best Actress" in 2016.
Eilis is not a role challenged by intense psychological conflicts or extreme inner developments. What Saoirse Ronan has brought to and is appreciated in Brooklyn is her personal growth in her career to portray the cognitive and emotional maturity of an immigrant girl, gradually realizing it.” America dream".
Composer Michael Brook (Into The Wild, The Perk Of Being A Wallflower…) once again excelled in his work, with background music based on ancient celtic sounds. There's a scene where a homeless man stands up to sing on Christmas Eve, the folk song "Casadh an tSúgáin" (Twist Of The Rope) bringing Eillis to tears. Even if they don't understand the words, viewers will still feel the nostalgic atmosphere filling the room, to the point that we can breathe it like her.
Brooklyn is full of colors and flavors from politics, economy, culture, typical Irish colors, choices and love.
"The Expatriate" is really the perfect choice for a relaxing and gentle weekend.
