After enlisting to fight in WWI, a doting father enrolls his kind-hearted daughter Sara in a strict English boarding school where the stern headmistress is not as charmed by Sara's imaginative storytelling as her classmates. After a change in fortunes, Sara is considered penniless and excluded from her studies, forced to work at the school as a scullery maid, but some remarkable discoveries are made that could change her fate.
